Introduction
Is it possible
to "convert" DRM protected WMA files? Technically,
no. In many cases, it is illegal to circumvent Microsoft's protection
in order to convert WMA files protected with Digital Rights
Management (DRM). However, there are many legitimate reasons
for wanting to convert these protected files, and many feel they
should be able to do so. Free Audio Editor provides
an audio recorder that can be used as a DRM Protected
WMA Converter to record DRM protected WMA files while they are being
played in Windows Media Player. The audio recorder can save audio
directly to MP3, unprotected WMA (using any desired profile), WAV
(using any compression codec), OGG, and more. Now, download and
install Free Audio Editor then enjoy your amazing recording!
Step 1: Active Recording Window
Launch Free Audio Editor. Click "New Record"
to choose recording sample rate & channels and click "OK"
to activate audio recording window.
Step 2: Choose Sound Source and Sound
Card
Choose the "Stereo Mix" as
the sound source and select a proper sound
card in your system. The names of the sound source to record
audio maybe different in various operating systems, usually named
as Stereo Mix, Phone Line, Aux Volume, Video Volume, Mic
Volume, Line In, CD Audio and so on.
Step 3: Adjust the Recording Settings
Then start the playback of the DRM protected WMA files that
you want to record. If the audio from the sound is detected, you
should see the signal on the wave patterns. Then,
adjust the recording volume as needed. Set a specific
time by clicking "Timer Record" to automatically
start recording. You also have the power to record without silence.
Step 4: Start the Recording
After everything is set, please click the red round
record button in audio recorder to start recording.
You can see the recording time on the top. To stop the recording,
click "Pause". Then, click "Keep"
to input the recording to the waveform window of audio editor.
Step 5: Save the Recording
Now, the recording is displayed in the waveform window. You
can click "Play" to playback or edit &
add audio effects to the recording if you like. Click
"Save" to specify the output format, file name
and output location. You can use presets provided (There are AM
Quality, FM Quality, CD Quality and so on) or specify the
parameters as needed. Now, share your Recorded DRM protected
WMA music with your friends!
